That is not the kind of thing I would read in the bathroom gesh what shape is that book in.

In that era it was probably the only safe place to hide it, or to read it.

Seems like a reasonable place to keep a piece of........

how ironic the name of the book is called on the origin of species and look where it is found

how appropriate... wonder how many pages have been used over the years

Darwin strikes me as a bit of a dry read. So that copy probably hasn't been handled as much, as something more effective in inducing a bowel movement, such as the morning paper or Readers Digest.
